Mid-day meals, nutrition kits, hygiene workshops — because a child cannot learn on an empty stomach.
About 69% of Indians subsist on less than US$ 2 a day; 7,000 die every day due to Hunger. In India, food is still a luxury — these people do not have a voice.
During COVID lockdown, 100 million families were denied their source of livelihood. In Uttarakhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, life came to a standstill for our students too.
PANKH initiated the Hunger, Health & Hygiene Project — distributing Ration kits comprising Atta, Rice, Biscuits, Soybean, Pulses, Oil and Potatoes. Beneficiaries included stranded labourers, Sadhus and pavement dwellers.
Our Health & Hygiene kits included bathing soaps, toothpastes, hand wash, sanitizers, gloves and face masks. Homeopathy medicines were also offered.
Our Cooked Meals Program runs on a weekly basis — poori, sabzi and kheer, packaged and delivered. In the last 2 years, we covered 4,500 beneficiaries.
